USCIS Extends Green Card Validity Extension to 36 Months for Green Card Renewals
On September 18, 2024, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it is automatically extending the validity of Permanent Resident Cards, also known as Green Cards, to 36 months from the expiration date for individuals who have filed renewal applications.
Effective September 10, 2024, lawful permanent residents who file or have filed Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card, will have their evidence of permanent residence extended for 36 months. Previously, Form I-90 receipt notices provided a 24-month extension. New amended receipt notices indicating a 36-month extension will be sent to individuals with pending I-90 applications.
