Sostrin Client Spotlight - Drs. Zulma and Dan Gazit

Dr. Zulma Gazit and Dr. Dan Gazit are partners not only in life, but also in scientific pursuits. The couple, who married in 1988, have been working together for the past 21 years. They both recently become U.S. citizens after many years of living in the United States and working with Sostrin Immigration Lawyers on their U.S. immigration process.

Dr. Zulma Gazit first obtained her Master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Buenos Aires in her native country of Argentina, followed by her Ph.D. in Immunology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. After spending several years focusing on immunology, she began working in stem cell research at Hebrew University, where she met her husband Dr. Dan Gazit.

Dr. Dan Gazit’s career began in his home country of Israel, where he attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and received a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, followed by a Doctorate in Dental Medicine. After several years practicing in a clinic, he obtained a Ph.D. in Bone Biology in 1991, also from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and since then has studied and investigated skeletal regeneration using adult stem cells and gene therapy.

Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Dan and Zulma worked at various universities across the United States, including the University of Virginia and the University of California in San Francisco.  The couple both joined Cedars-Sinai in 2006 where they began building a new program for skeletal tissue regeneration, a program which combines their expertise in stem cells and gene therapy.

They currently lead their own research laboratory at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center that investigates skeletal tissue regeneration. Dan and Zulma also hold positions as Professors in the Cedars-Sinai Department of Surgery, in addition to their roles as Co-Directors of the Skeletal Regeneration and Stem Cell Therapy Program at the Regenerative Medicine Institute.

Dan and Zulma have now been working together for more than 20 years and have developed unique methods for treating skeletal tissue loss or degeneration. As Dan explains, “Zulma and myself are inventors. We invent and develop technologies that are aimed to rebuild injured organs in human beings. Our expertise is skeletal organs.”

Dan and Zulma have been working with Sostrin Immigration Lawyers since the firm was founded in 2010 and have worked with partner Rita Sostrin since 2005. We are so proud to have been part of their journey in the United States, and wish them all the best now that they have become U.S. citizens.
