Sostrin Client Spotlight - Jack Jameson
We’ve represented dozens of noteworthy filmmakers, but few have had the privilege of directing A-list talent like Elmo, Big Bird, and the Teletubbies. Director Jack Jameson has worked on several beloved children’s shows in the U.K. and U.S., scoring several BAFTA and Emmy wins and nominations along the way.
Jack Jameson began directing for CBBC, the BBC’s channel for children’s programming. He worked on several BAFTA-winning series including Topsy and Tim, Chucklevision, and Waffle the Wonder Dog. Jameson was then brought on to direct the 2015 reboot of Teletubbies. While the original show’s classic hills and meadows were shot on a real outdoor set, the new show used a 20:1 scale model set complete with 20,000 tiny laser cut flowers and 3D-printed grass. With the help of a bluescreen and clever camera work, Jameson managed to make the miniature set look life-sized behind the 10 foot tall Teletubbies.
Jameson then began directing for Sesame Street, earning him a Daytime Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Directing in a Children’s, Pre-School Children’s or Family Viewing Program.” Just this past month, Jameson won his first Director’s Guild of America (DGA) Award for the Sesame Street special “When You Wish Upon A Pickle,” starring Blake Lively and Amanda Seyfried.
Jameson was recently granted his third O-1 visa as an individual of extraordinary achievement. He has plans to continue working on Sesame Street. We are honored to represent clients who bring such a wide variety of talents to the U.S., and we can’t wait to watch Jameson find new ways to bring our favorite childhood characters to life.
