More travel ban news today. The State Department announced that, as of January 21, 2026, it will pause issuing immigrant visas to applicants from 75 countries. Immigrant visa applicants from affected countries may still submit visa applications and attend interviews, but no immigrant visas will be issued during this pause. Dual nationals applying with a valid passport of a country that is not subject to the pause are exempt. The immigrant visa pause does not affect issuance of nonimmigrant visas.
